At the June Board and Committee Meetings in Rocky Hill, CT, the Risk Control Committee voted on the 2009 Housing Authority Risk Retention Innovation Awards. Atlantic City won by turning up the “H.E.A.T” with a program on Home/High-Rise Evacuation Accountability Training. Tulsa earned the Best Practices nod with its “Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) Classes,” while Inkster, Michigan was first runner-up for its “Vacant Unit Management” program.
Earlier in June, 18 children from housing authorities across the nation were honored in the 2009 Playground Safety Poster and Essay Contest.
