Web Upgrade Better for Members, Company
We live in a technology-driven world where the look and usefulness of a Web site matters. Sometimes, it’s the first impression a prospective customer gets from a company.
Housing Authority Insurance Group addressed this in 2008 by redesigning its Web site.
“Technology is always changing so in order for us to meet and anticipate the needs of our members, we needed to upgrade and redesign the Web site,” Administrative Services Manager Megan Johnson said. “Was it absolutely crucial? No, we could do the things same-old, same-old. But we choose to grow and change with the times."
The upgrade was not the computer equivalent of a new coat of paint. Like the recent Circuit City bankruptcy sale, everything had to go.
“The project was very big in scope; it wasn’t just a software upgrade,” HAI Group Network Administrator Jill McNamee said. “The server, the technology, and the look of the site all were upgraded at the same time.”
For Web-loving members, www.housingcenter.com has several new features that add value to your membership.
For those who are less tech savvy, it’s easier to use.
“It benefits members because we have organized it in such a way it’s easier to find information they’re looking for,” McNamee said. “We tried to make it so you don’t have to follow too many links to get to one place.
“If they’re looking for information from us, we want to make it as easy as possible and to have relevant information. Nobody’s got time to hunt around for things.”
In this technology-driven world, no one should have to do that. |
