Commercial Lines Programs: Growing and Growing

Housing Enterprise Insurance Company, Inc. (HEIC) is licensed to write affordable housing business in several states and the list is growing. Product Staff members have been busy developing the rates, rules, and forms to be used in this program and – as licenses are approved – the appropriate product filings are being made in those states. Additionally, our Statistical Analyst and Information Technology staffs are working on data reporting and policy issuance support for the program.

In 2009, Housing Authority Insurance Group will start writing business in HEIC. HAI Group will offer the same Commercial Output Program (aka COP*) that was rolled out earlier this year by Housing Authority Property Insurance, A Mutual Company (HAPI) for public housing members. As a companion product to the COP, HEIC will offer a commercial liability program, which will provide competitive coverage and pricing for our eligible affordable housing members.

The commercial liability program will provide the following for eligible members (subject to state approvals):

  • Coverage for claims of bodily injury, property damage, personal injury, or advertising injury arising out of the premises and operations exposures of the insured's business.
  • Coverage for claims of bodily injury and property damage arising out of the products/completed work exposures of the insured's business.
  • Coverage includes broad form contractual liability coverage.
  • An option to include Employee Benefits Liability Coverage in certain states – (claims made). Covers damages due to injury to an employee caused by a negligent act, error, or omission in the administration of an employee benefits program.
  • An option to include coverage by endorsement for Hired and Non-Owned autos in certain states.

(*COP is a trademark of American Association of Insurance Services.)
