The HADA Seminar was held in Milwaukee on June 18. Attendees represented 24 states and the District of Columbia. The 2009 HADA Seminar is scheduled for March 23, 2009 at Treasure Island in Las Vegas.

In the never-ending goal to provide better products and services to our members, the Commercial Output Program currently is being launched to provide commercial property coverage to public housing authorities.

The Housing Authority Property Insurance, a Mutual Company’s COP is nothing if not user friendly due to its flexibility and the support it receives from Housing Authority Insurance Group’s Information Technology department. So far, use of COP has been approved in 36 states. The first quote proposals went out on May 1 and the policies were mailed out on June 19 with a July 1 effective date.

The primary advantage of COP is that it provides numerous coverages under one policy. In addition to Building and Business Personal Property, the list of available coverages includes Income and Expense, Earthquake, Flood, Equipment Breakdown, and Crime.

Business Personal Property (including computers and mobile equipment) will be covered on a blanket limit basis. Also, Equipment Breakdown will not be subject to a separate sublimit but will follow the property coverage limits. Finally, COP is unique in that it allows crime coverage, eliminating the need for a separate crime policy.
