Happy Trails: Glen Redding Passes Reigns to New Chairman

L. Glen Redding

L. Glen Redding, Jr. (Stillwater Housing Authority, OK) was presented with a Roy Rogers collectible holster set at the December Board meeting in recognition of his past two years of service as HAI Group Board Chair.

I would like to express my gratitude to you, our members, for allowing me the honor to serve as HAI Group’s Board Chair over the past two years. Together we have worked to make HAI Group more beneficial to its members by providing additional coverages, lowering premiums, and offering member dividends as we strive to meet the goals and objectives of our mission. We have also used our license to write HAPI Direct policies, while transitioning HERS to a licensed insured company.

I want to thank Dan Labrie for his enthusiastic leadership and passion to ensure that HAI Group remains a solid company. I would also like to recognize the efforts of Corporate Secretary Leslie Whitlock, who makes sure our meetings are flawless and that board correspondence is accurate and prompt. All HAI Group staff (many we never see at meetings) are true professionals and they take pride in the work that has helped make HAI Group such a wonderful organization.

As you may know, I am a big Roy Rogers fan. Roy Rogers was my hero and the values of the cowboy should be something we all emulate. All cowboy heroes (Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hoppalong Cassidy, and The Lone Ranger) lived by a common code; “The Cowboy Code.” The history of the early west hinged on this code, which included rules such as treat all others fairly and never take an unfair advantage; a cowboy always tells the truth; have respect for others and you will be respected; respect women; and believe in your creator, your country, and fellow man. I learned this from my heroes, my father, and the cowboy.

As I pass the reigns of leadership to Barry Romano, (Deputy Director, Albany Housing Authority, NY), I assure you that HAI Group is in capable hands and that Barry has the strength and character that the cowboy code requires. He will always ride for the brand.

Happy Trails.
